Creamy Chicken

 Description

Creamy Chicken is a tasty and yummy dish made with marinated chicken cooked in a creamy tomato sauce. This recipe uses boneless chicken and a blend of spices to create a rich and flavorful curry.


Ingredients
  • 500g boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large tomatoes, diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Method
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.
  4. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil. Add the chopped onions and cook until lightly browned, about 4-5 minutes.
  6. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
  7. Stir in the diced tomatoes, butter, flour, and heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  8. Add the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 10-15 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and the chicken is fully coated.
  9. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve over basmati rice or with naan bread.
