Description
Bread kulfi is a popular Pakistani dessert that combines the richness of kulfi with the crunch of bread. It's a unique and delicious twist on traditional kulfi.
Ingredients
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4-6 slices of white bread
- Chopped nuts for garnish
Method
- Step 1: Make the Kulfi Base
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. - Step 2: Add Spices and Butter
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the ground cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add the unsalted butter and mix until melted. - Step 3: Soak the Bread
Cut the bread slices into small pieces and soak them in the kulfi base for at least 30 minutes. - Step 4: Freeze the Kulfi
Pour the kulfi mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish or a metal loaf pan. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. - Step 5: Serve
Cut the bread kulfi into slices and serve chilled. Garnish with chopped nuts or dried fruit, if desired.
