Description: Crispy fried finger fish served with a tangy and savory hot and sour sauce, perfect for a quick and delicious meal.
Ingredients:
For the fish:
- 1 pound Pegasus fish (or any white fish)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the hot and sour sauce:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon grated garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Method:
- Prepare the fish: Cut the fish into finger-shaped strips. Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish. Dip each fish strip into the buttermilk, then coat in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Fry the fish: Heat about 1/2-inch vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the fish strips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Make the hot and sour sauce: In a small saucepan, whisk together ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. Add grated ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes or until thickened.
- Serve: Serve the fried fish strips with hot and sour sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
