Pakistani Aloo Tikki

Description:

Aloo Tikki is a popular Pakistani street food, crispy potato patties flavored with spices and herbs. These are often served with a dollop of yogurt, chutney, and a sprinkle of chaat masala.


Ingredients:
  • 1 lb potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablepoon garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon chopped green chilies 
  • Vegetable oil for frying
Method:
  1. Combine mashed potatoes, breadcrumbs, cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  2. Mix well and add lemon juice, cilantro, and green chilies.
  3. Divide the mixture into 8-10 portions and shape each into a round patty.
  4. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat and fry the patties until golden brown and crispy (about 3-4 minutes per side).
  5. Drain excess oil on paper towels and serve hot with yogurt, chutney, and chaat masala.
