Chicken Lasagna

 Description:

A classic Italian dish, chicken lasagna is a layered masterpiece of tender chicken, rich sauce, and creamy cheese wrapped in fresh pasta sheets.

Ingredients:
  • 8-10 lasagna sheets
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup white sauce
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, chopped (optional)
Method:
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna sheets according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, sauté the chicken, onions, and garlic until the chicken is cooked.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for a few minutes until heated through.
  5. In a separate saucepan, make the white sauce by melting butter, whisking in flour, and slowly adding milk. Bring to a simmer until thickened.
  6. In a large bowl, combine the cooked chicken mixture, white sauce, and chopped basil (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. In a 9x13-inch baking dish, create the lasagna layers:
    • Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom
    • Arrange 4 lasagna sheets on top
    • Spread half of the chicken mixture
    • Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese
    • Repeat the layers: marinara sauce, lasagna sheets, chicken mixture, and cheese
  8. Top the final layer of lasagna sheets with the remaining cheese and a sprinkle of parmesan.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
